Agribusiness
Union County’s strong agricultural heritage supports food production, processing, logistics, and agritech innovation. Our Economic Development team connects producers with infrastructure, workforce, and market access.
Union County’s workforce readiness in agribusiness is second to none. Career exploration in agribusiness begins with Union County Public Schools’ exciting Agrotechnology program, which gives K-12 students at several local schools an introduction to over 300 careers in agriculture, such as production, financing, processing, marketing, veterinary medicine, robotics, automation and agricultural product distribution.
From Wingate University’s degree program in agricultural food systems to South Piedmont Community College's new agribusiness certificate program, the opportunities to explore agribusiness in higher education are constantly expanding.
We invite you to explore the resources available through the N.C. Cooperative Extension – Union County Center at the Union County Agricultural Center as you learn how Union County’s agricultural roots help us explore new ground for the future of this exciting sector.
